So today we will learn from my mistake! As UX designer we must ensure to have eagle eyes. Unlike me, I was a sloth when making my RSPCA app. First here is my goal for the app.

Goals from Assignment 2

  • to have smooth and easy steps for the target audience to follow within the app
  • -the app should have all aspects that were outlined in the brief of A2. To have the adoption section and to take care of the pet.

With these goals in mind, I made my App-

So, the feedback I got from A2 was to keep Content Variation and Aesthetic Variation. I was told to combine, use the colours from Asethics and content from Content Variation. But I was so focused on colour and style that I neglected the content.

In A2, my research report consisted of my interview questions and answers.

Research Report Findings

From this, I found User Goals-

  • To get the best care for their pets
  • To calm their anxiety and stress level when caring for their pet
  • Wants a buddy that can make them feel happy and comfortable or safe.
  • To save animals

Because of these findings, I made an app that would suit the target audience and have similar goals.

Anyways moving on, we were asked to make storyboards and I absolutely loved that idea. I used the persona and scenario from A2 to create a perfect storyboard. Because I used images of my family, for privacy purpose I will not be sharing them here.

Now, you may be wondering what was the mistake that I made…

It was the app process, itself. The sprint process. Like the name I really sprinted my way to the making and prototyping without putting 100% thought. I ran!

It is important to follow each step in detail because further on, it will help with the making of the app.

After creating the app, I didn't notice but the feedbacks from my peers opened my eyes to the errors and functional errors I made. After I did the User Testing Report I found a lot of mistakes and here are some aspects that were recommended for change.

Change One
Change Two

For the User Testing Report, I asked questions and walked through the app with five users and recorded the sessions. Compiled the 5 videos into one video to get a sense of what needs working and to results. I noticed that the users were confused. The ones that I spoke with face to face seemed to find it easy and those who did it online found it hard to navigate. I took this into considerations and explained (see above images) what I would do if I had more time.

A/B Split

Here I made redesigned three screens for my original screens to find out what worked better. A is the original format while B is the new format. I asked 10 people to pick which ones they preferred.

For example-

Screen One
Screen Two
Screen Three

If I had more time, I would add these changes to have the complete app but I still lack in some aspects. But that is okay, I shall continue to learn!
